2008 THROWN WEAPONS CHAMPIONSHIP BARONY OF GLYMM MERE A Letter from Their Excellencies Unto the Populace of Glymm Mere do Baron Godric and Baroness Kara send joyous greetings, We are excited to announce a new Championship beginning at Honey War! Below are the requirements for Glymm Mere’s 2008 Thrown Weapons Championship. Everyone with an interest in Thrown Weapons is encouraged to participate, regardless of skill level. There are many reasons to compete, including the chance to test your skills against your peers’, obtaining experience in a competitive environment, and the satisfaction of sharing your prowess with others. Regardless of who wins, there is much satisfaction to be had in participating. Come and share your talents with the Barony of Glymm Mere! Thank you for participating and good luck! The Duties and Responsibilities of the Thrown Weapons Champion
· It is the responsibility of the Champion to sponsor Thrown Weapons activities at Glymm Mere events and whenever the need arises. This may include sponsoring or assisting with Thrown Weapons competitions, demonstrations, and practices. · The Champion is encouraged to involve him/herself in Thrown Weapons competitions and practices throughout the Kingdom of An Tir. · The Champion is expected to attend Glymm Mere's May Faire, Honey War and Yule Feast as well as next year’s competition, assist in planning and conducting said competition, and assist in the selection of his/her successor. · A Champion should serve as a role model and an inspiration to the Populace and is expected to conduct him/herself with courtesy, humility and honor. · Should the Champion fail to uphold the standard of Champion as stated, Their Excellencies will ask the Champion to relinquish his/her position. If this occurs, Their Excellencies may choose an acting replacement, leave the Championship vacant for the remainder of that Champion’s term, or hold another Championship competition.
The Rights and Privileges of the Thrown Weapons Protector Champion To bear and display the regalia of his/her position. To stand near the Coronets in court and at events. To speak or act in the Coronets’ name when delegated to do so.
Who and When Any adult (18 years or older) may compete, so long as they are willing and able to perform the duties and responsibilities described above and swear fealty or service to the Coronets of Glymm Mere. The final decision regarding competitors rests with Their Excellencies. Their Excellencies, in consultation with the Thrown Weapons Champion, may consider waiving a participant’s age requirement to 16 years or older on a case-by-case basis and only if the competitor contacts the Coronets to request said waiver prior to the event. The competition will be held Saturday, June 14th, 2008 at Honey War.
Scoring The competition will consist of two sections: 1. Best Throw for Score of the day consisting of 20 throws each of knife, axe and spear. 2. At 5pm - 5 Knife throwns at a spinning target 5 Spear throws at the straw bale from 20 feet Scores for both sections will all be taken into consideration for the championship. |
