Greetings,
We would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to put Honey War together, it was a great experience and we will certainly have interesting tales to share about it. We won't forget the invasion of the honey bees on the battle field or the pie competition.....thanks Elonda! We would like to thank our wonderful cousins to the north, the Barony of Blatha an Oir. Their support and enthusiasm for this event was a large factor in its success. Thank you Aleksii and Elspeth!
The autocrat, Lady Disa, and her staff did a wonderful job organizing the event and were creative and flexible with last minute changes and managed to make the event even better than planned. Lady Margaret Fae and House Whispers did a wonderful job as usual, and was tremendously helpful with site layout and set up. Lord Volk certainly earned the name overly-helpful-man this weekend and even recruited a new side kick, lend-a-hand-lad aka: Lord Domar. Lady Alaina logged hours of gate time yet again and is becoming indispensable.
There were so many activities happening that there was sure to be something for everyone:
Our martial champions made us proud and gave us quite a show during the champions challenge and managed to win the first point of the war.
Lord Halbjorn and Lord Volk ran a great war, folks really liked the sheep scenario. Results were an overall Glymm Mere victory.
Lord Thorbjorn and Lady Jon Heather ran the rapier battles and reported lots of fun. Winner was Blatha an Or
Aedin did a wonderful job on the archery range and was happy to report no mishaps except lost arrows. Winner was Baltha an Or
HL Gerald ran the throwing range, and did a great job but did close it soon enough and Dragon's Laire managed to claim that war point for Blatha an Or.....:-).
Lord Jean Pierre did a great job organizing the youth combat. Winner was Glymm Mere.
Captain Lily organized the brewing competition and declared Glymm Mere the winner.
HL Wilfred put together the A&S competition. The points were split evenly.
HL Francisca organized the siege cooking competition. Winner was Blatha an Or.
Lady Gwen herded the kids through pied piper and the wacky tacky water war and reported a Glymm Mere victory.
Volunteer points were awarded to Glymm Mere.
Lastly was the fund raiser organized by Tierran, the winner was Blatha an Or.
The results were declared a draw and the true victory was given to the honey bees who held the field against nearly a 100 armored men. There is a song in the making on this I hear.
We would like to praise Lord Silverstone and HL Mahee for risking their well-being by moving the hive once it settled on a table. You both showed true courage ..........or questionable judgment :-). Thanks!!!
I'd like to thank all the heavy fighters who came to make this event a success, I believe we had nearly 100 fighters this year, this event is growing and I hope the word continues to spread of the fun that was had and we see next year even bigger. I really would like to thank all the fighters who choose to fight for Glymm Mere: The Beevarians mustered 8 warriors and performed admirably alongside the other war bands of Clan Carn who brought 19 fighters, Saint Ulrich with 10, Black Company with 5, House Minstead with 3 and the Shire of Fire Mountain Keep with 2.
The Barony went out to their way to provide for our troops by baking lots and lots of cookies! Special thanks go out to Lady Muireean, Seamus and his lovely wife, Lady Veda and Lady Gwen.
We would like to congratulate the following Baronial award recipients:
Disa i Birkilundi: Order of the Hunter's Horn
Sir Richard Fitzalan: Order of the Iron Wolf
Micah the Mad: Crystal of Glymm Mere
Margaret Fae: Crystal of Glymm Mere
Alaina Blackthorn: Crystal of Glymm Mere
Fjorleif Needsalastnamedottir: Red Hart
Grimr Asigirsson: Baron's Favor
Cailin Lorne: Baron's Favor
We would also like to congratulate the newest member of the Kingdom's Order of the Goutte de Sang, Wilfred Josefsen!
For folks who just didn't get enough, don't forget that River's Bend war is coming up on June 25-28. Glymm Mere has declared to support the Shire of Fire Mountain Keep in this dispute and will be raising it's banner and asking for all the Beevarians to muster.
Godric and Kara,
Baron and Baroness of Glymm Mere

*From the Archives*
Greetings,
Glymm Mere is full of great and wonderful people, but they can be somewhat modest. Will you please help our webmaster out by contributing to the Antir Wikipedia project?
Glymm Mere is full of friends, pick one and thrust them into the spot light; we all would like to know a little more about them. Please find someone you would like to "share" with the kingdom and create an Antir Wikipedia page for them. I take great pride in being from Glymm Mere and I hope you do to, lets share or Barony with the Kingdom.
Please resist the urge to post an unflattering photo of someone, for example: a certain Baron wearing a plastic Viking hat. Keep the content somewhat serious and factual.......unless of course you're writing about HL Mahee. :-) He is the current Sweet after all.
It doesn't take long to create a page, and it's surprisingly easy. It would be wonderful if we could have a page for each person on our roster. If we missed listing someone on the wiki populace page, please let Seamus or myself know and we will add them. If you have any questions or problems please contact Seamus.........or me.
Thanks,
Godric

Glymm Mere Requests Aid
Once again the stores of honey in the Barony of Glymm Mere are running low. The honey rightfully won by our fair barony last year was "missing" as our most honorable Baron Godric attempted to savor a drop from the cask supplied by Blatha An Oir. It would seem that maybe the taste for honey runs strong with the residents of Blatha An Oir.
Glymm Mere has been honored with many visits from her neighbors to the north over the past year. The barony has welcomed these visitors with warmth and gladness. Oddly enough, the honey supply in Glymm Mere has dwindled soon after these visits.
Coincidence? Perhaps. Then again....?
The righteous Baron Godric, fair Baroness Kara and the Barony of Glymm Mere invite one and all to Honey War. Help Glymm Mere protect what is left of her honey!! |

04/29/2009 Update for Mayfaire:
Please join us for Arts and Sciences activities at Mayfaire this weekend. Bring a chair and find your way to Glymm Mere's lovely Arts and Sciences pavilion.
Classes! At this point, classes for Saturday afternoon include wire weaving, Norse clothing, beginning knitting, beginning blackwork and possibly brickstitch. On Sunday, we will have a class on tea ceremonies. Other classes may be added if teachers are available. The class schedule will be posted in the Arts and Sciences pavilion, and sign-ups will be on site. (Sign-ups begin Saturday morning, and space is limited in some classes. Some instructors may need a few dollars for reimbursement for supplies and handouts.)
Projects! There will be space available for those who would like to work on small projects. This is a great way to learn and teach and to meet others who are interested in similar skills.
Games! We will have a table of board games courtesy of our games mistress Medb.
If you need more information before the event, e-mail Elisa by noon on Friday at kjdahle at comcast dot net.
We hope to see you at Mayfaire.

04/21/2009 Greetings! As those of you who were at the last business meeting know, we are no longer able to meet at the Thurston County Courthouse. I had a few great suggestions for new meeting places. Many thanks to Gyl and Kolfinna for doing legwork and phone work for me. As it stands, we will be meeting at the library for at lest the next two months.
We have booked the Olympia Timberland Regional Library Meeting Room from 6pm to 8 pm on the following dates: May 12 and June 2. The address is 313 8th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501 (corner of 8th and Franklin downtown).
May 12 is the second Tuesday of the month. The first tuesday was booked, plus it gives us a week between Mayfaire and the meeting as opposed to two days. Please forward this and/or pass along the dates, times and place to folks who may not be on the Evercleare list. Please let me know if you have any questions and/or suggestions for other meeting places. Thanks all!
